Golden State University (GSU) is a private institution approved to operate by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education. Approval to operate means the institution is compliant with the minimum standards contained in the California Private Postsecondary Education Act of 2009 (as amended) and Division 7.5 of Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations.) §94897
The Master of Science in Asian Medicine program at Golden State University is approved by the California Acupuncture Board (CAB).
GSU is also approved by Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) to issue I-20 for foreign students.
GSU achieved candidacy status, as the initial step toward accreditation for Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM), which is the recognized accreditation agency for freestanding institutions and colleges of acupuncture or Oriental medicine that offer such programs. Accreditation candidacy is granted for a period of 3 years (with the possibility of up to two, one-year extensions under special circumstances), during which the GSU must complete the initial accreditation process.
